TRANSLATION OF THE LESSON (पाठ का हिन्दी अनुवाद)
It was Sunday……………………………………. entered the house.
हिन्दी अनुवाद- यह रविवार था और स्कूल बंद था। गायत्री बहुत उत्साहित थी। वह समुद्र में अपने पिता के साथ मछली पकड़ने जा रही थी। गायत्री के पिता मछुआरे थे। हर दिन वे समुद्र में मछली पकड़ने जाते थे। उन्होंने गायत्री को वचन दिया था कि वे उसे मछली पकड़ना सिखाएंगे। बड़ी होकर वह अपने पिता का व्यवसाय करना चाहती थी।
जब गायत्री अपने जूतों के फीते बाँध रही थी, तो उसने रेडियों पर एक खबर सुनी। अगले चौबीस घंटे में उनके गाँव में चक्रवातीय तूफान आने की संभावना थी। वह जानती थी कि तूफान अपने साथ तेज़ हवा, भारी बरसात और समुद्र में ज्वार लेकर आएगा। वह वृक्षों को गिरा देगा और घरों को नष्ट कर देगा। भारी वर्षा होगी जिससे बाढ़ आ सकती है। वो अपने पिता को चेतावनी देने बाहर भागी। दोनों ने ही बादलों की तेज़ गर्जना सुनी। बारिश की मोटी बूदें गिरने लगीं। वे समुद्र की लहरें, जो बढ़ती जा रही थीं, उन्हें देख सकते थे।
शाम के बाद का समय था। चक्रवात क्षेत्र में आ चुका था। लगातार बारिश हो रही थी। गायत्री के घर में बाढ़ का पानी भी आ चुका था। उसने बिस्तरों, मेजों और कुर्सियों पर घर की छोटी-छोटी वस्तुएँ जैसे – खाना, बर्तन, मोमबत्तियाँ और माचिसे रख दी थीं। सुबह तक बहुत सारा पानी घर में घुस चुका था।

हिन्दी अनुवाद- एक असुविधाजनक रात के बाद, गायत्री अपनी छत पर गई और चारों तरफ देखा । पूरा क्षेत्र पानी में डूबा हुआ था। सिर्फ कुछ घर ही देखे जा सकते थे। उसके घर के पास की छोटी झोपड़ियाँ बाढ़ के कारण नहीं दिख रही थीं। बेघर लोग पेड़ों की इँठो पर या उन स्थानों पर बैठे थे जो पानी में नहीं डूबे थे। गायत्री ने सोचा कि उसे कुछ करना चाहिए। उसके घर के बाहर पड़ी नाव तक वह तैर कर पहुँची। अवरुद्ध लोगों की तरफ वह पूरे बल के साथ नाव चलाकर पहुँची। उसनें नाव पर चढ़ने में उनकी मदद की और टाउन हॉल की तरफ नाव चलाई। वहाँ उन्हें जिला प्राधिकारियों ने .. संभाला। फिर वह घर वापस आई और अपनी माँ को अनुरोधपूर्वक कुछ कपड़े, खाना, माचिसें, और मोमबत्तियाँ देने को कहा। उसने उन्हें जलरोधक थैले में बाँधा और टाउन हॉल वापस पहुँची। उससे वह सामान अस्थायी बसेरे के पर्यवेक्षक को पकड़ा दिया जिसने उसे लोगों में बाँट दिया। उन्होंने आराम और प्रसन्नता महसूस की। गायत्री भी प्रसन्न थी कि वह उन लोगों की थोड़ी मदद कर सकी। उसने अपने पड़ोसियों की आवश्यकता के समय मदद की।
