हिन्दी अनुवाद – जगतपुर गाँव में कबड्डी का मैच हर शनिवार खेला जाता है। मानिक काका के घर के बाहर भीड़ इकट्ठा है। वह गाँव के ग्राम प्रधान हैं। मीना जो शहर में रहती है, अपने चचेरे भाई रवि से जगतपुर रहने आई है। रवि, उसे वहाँ ले जाता है जहाँ मैच होने वाला है।
मीना : यहाँ क्या हो रहा है?
रवि : यहाँ एक कबड्डी मैच हमारे गाँव की टीम और पड़ोसी गाँव जसरा की टीम में खेला जाएगा।
मीना : वाह! यह बहुत रोमांचक होगा।
रवि : हाँ।
मीना : क्या तुमने कभी कबड्डी खेली है?
रवि : हाँ, यह मेरा मनपसंद खेल है।
मीना : मुझे इस खेल के बारे में कुछ और बताओ। कितने खिलाड़ी कबड्डी खेलते हैं?
रवि : कबड्डी दो टीमों का खेल है जिसमें प्रत्येक में सात खिलाड़ी होते हैं।
मीना : ठीक है।
रवि : एक टीम आक्रमण पक्ष की बन जाती है और दूसरी टीम बचाव पक्ष की। वे एक दूसरे के साथ प्रतियोगिता करते हैं और सहयोग भाव बनाए रखते हैं।
मीना : देखो। टीमें आ गई हैं।
रवि : हर टीम कोर्ट के अपने आधे भाग पर है। खेल आरम्भ होने वाला है।

मीना : वह क्या अलाप रहा है?
रवि : वह आक्रमणकारी है। अपनी साँस रोक कर वह अलाप रहा है ‘कबड्डी’, ‘कबड्डी’, ‘कबड्डी’……..
मीना : वह क्या कर रही है?
रवि : वह विरोधी टीम के खिलाड़ियों को छूने का प्रयत्न कर रहा है। अगर वह विरोधी टीम के किसी खिलाड़ी को छूता है और अपने कोर्ट में वापस आ जाता है, बिना बचाव पक्ष के खिलाड़ियों के द्वारा पकड़े जाने से, उसे एक अंक मिलेगा।
मीना : अगर वह विरोधी खिलाड़ियों को छूने में असफल रहता है तो क्या होगा?
रवि : उसे कोई अंक नहीं मिलेगा। अगर विरोधी टीम उसे पकड़ लेती है, वह आउट हो जाएगा।
मीना : यह खेल कब समाप्त होगा।
रवि : दो अर्द्ध के बीच में पाँच मिनट के विलम्ब से यह खेल 40 मिनट तक खेला जाएगा। (मैच सुविधापूर्वक चला। जगतपुर टीम ने मैच जीत लिया।)
